Conclusion

From my research I have found out Niche music can promote themselves in as many different ways as mainstream artist or more. This proves the long tail theory. As independent music sell slowly therefore it is not widely available on high street or supermarket. Due to the limited phyical spaces in a shop, so Niche music will not tend to be stocked, because they don’t sell enough copies to earn their shelf space. This makes internet the home of Niche music. Storing music digitally do not take up physical spaces so sites like Amazon and Play.com, can have infinit amount of Niches music. This allow these sites to make big money, even though one sell every now and then. But there are infinit amount of different ones so increase the chance of selling. As independent artist do not have the amount money to promote themselves as mainstream artist. Promoting themselves online is considerably cheap compare to television adverts and posters. By giving away free music to increase popularity so they get more fans and merchandise and concert tickets can be sold.

I have learnt that both indepent music and maistream music is very easily get hold of. Also the price is slightly cheaper than high street stores. On the internet tracks can be downloaded instead of buying the whole album, which might have songs that the user does not like. Downloading tracks off the net will only take maximum few minutes. This saves a lot time from going to a high street store. As well as this, on the internet music can be searched and the price and be compared easily.

Bomb The Music Industry Network

Facebook page of BTMI allow user to join the page and get update from it. It allow users to know what the band is up to also comment on updates and exchange information with other fans. It promotes the band when someone joins the page it will show up on the person's status. This will allow more people to see the page and the more people joining the page the more it will spread.

On the Myspace page there is a player that plays the music chosen by user. Also there is button next to the song "Buy". If the user likes the song they can buy it. This is good because it allow people to listen to it before buying so they can make sure they like it. Also the song can be embeded to a different site by copy and paste the HTML code. This allow a more people to hear the music. As well as this, album pictures can be shared onto different social network sites. This promote the band and let more people to know about it.

Snoop Dogg Network

Clothings are promoted on the facebook page of Snoop Dogg. Pictures with links to the official page's online store. The artist is also promoted on the site, when someone press the "Like" button the status will show on their home page. The more people "Like" the page will lead to more people to know about Snoop Dogg.

Snoop Dogg has his own Youtube Channel. There are music videos and other videos free to watch. This act like a taster for people, they can watch the video and listen to the song. Snoop Dogg is also signed to Death Row Records. On the website people can buy vinyl of Snoop Dogg, but the picture is linked to Amazon. On the website free song is available to be downloaded. Snoop Dogg is not well promoted on the record label site.
